enaio® at home

The world is in a Corona state of emergency. Germany works at home and goes digital. What kind of experience do we have? And what do we take with us for the future?

Digital, for those who can – analogue, for those who must

However, the fact that the whole of Europe now works from home is only half the truth. Because the many doctors, nurses, supermarket cashiers and pharmacists are naturally unable to work from home. This is not due to a supposed lack of digital infrastructure – on the contrary: REWE and EDEKA use an ECM system just as much as over 100 hospitals, from small rehabilitation centres to university hospitals. It is rather due to the fact that some work has to be done personally and on site. A part of the economy, however, has been put into remote mode for a short time. This is all the more impressive when we take into account that Germany has repeatedly been accused of lagging far behind digitally in recent decades. Broadband, digital citizenship, start-ups: all of this had not yet been properly developed. But when you see how naturally some people are able to work digitally, it becomes clear: we are not so bad.

Our priorities: Health and Service

In terms of work culture, the software industry is a global leader. This is where young people with an affinity for technology work, and where innovations of the New Work philosophy are rapidly establishing themselves. In times of Corona, this means that the changeover to completely location-independent – i.e. office-free – working must succeed at any time. And if this applies to our industry, then it naturally also applies to ourselves. OPTIMAL SYSTEMS works at home – except for a few who are still on site.

The highest priority remains the health of the employees and the responsibility to contain COVID-19 as required by the health authorities. This does not contradict our claim as a service provider. Our Professional Services are still busy and available with customer support, remote maintenance and updates. The logic behind this is clear: if enaio® is running, our 550,000 users can also continue working. This is a small building block in an economic building that we all want to maintain.

Made by people, used by people

Speaking of enaio®: The ECM software we develop is also used by ourselves. At almost every workplace. In the entire group of companies. For comprehensive team collaboration we only need a few more tools. Some of them are our own innovations, such as enaio® coLab. Others come from providers we trust. They and many more make possible what millions of employees are currently experiencing: Working at a different pace.

It also includes children who do not attend school or daycare and who are at home all day; or the care for people close to us. No software can prepare us for everything we experience. Nevertheless: In this new situation we get an idea of what is technically possible. And, who knows: maybe we would like to keep the one or other habit that inevitably arises today, even later. Because we have seen: It works.
